Xand’s labor wasn’t progressing well. They moved him into one of the open chambers they had specially designed for the twins to be born in. Elian was pacing and not looking much better since he had joined them on the ship. Rewn was worried the males weren’t going to be back in time to save him and the twins. Xand was completely naked as he paced around the room.

His body covered in sweat. His balls were swollen up, and his cock was pointed north from the pressure of the babies trying to deliver. The scales beneath his egg sack were spreading the way they should have been, but the sacks weren’t coming out. He was in a lot of pain. Xand rubbed his belly as he leaned a hand against the wall, taking a moaning breath. All of a sudden, Xand cried out. Rewn put his arm just beneath his as he held him up.

Without warning, water gushed from between his legs onto the floor with a loud whoosh. A cry of utter desperation and fear sounded from deep within Xand. Tears fell down his face. “No! No. No. The babies. They can’t live without their sack.”

Tears rushed from Xand’s eyes as everything he wanted was slipping out of his arms. Rewn felt his pain. Rewn reached one of his hands down, smoothing it over the opening. He felt inside the opening, feeling the smooth sack.

“I think it’s still intact.”

“No! Don’t lie to me,” Xand sobbed.

Rewn grabbed his hand, their eyes locking. “Look at me. You’re going to be okay. You’re going to have two really beautiful children. This is new, but this isn’t impossible.”

“Yeah?”

“I know it. Jaxon and Kevin are on their way back with the doctor. Relax.”

“Where are they?” Xand moaned.

“They’re coming.”

The journey down to Earth wasn’t safe for Xand. They had decided to keep him aboard the Titus. The ships were hidden further out than the moon to keep from being spotted. As soon as the males left with Elian on the surfacer, Xand had gone into labor.

Footsteps rushed through the corridor. Relief poured through Rewn when he saw them in the doorway. They were back. The doctor was between them. The doctor hesitated in the doorway as he looked around the room. Xand was in pain as he lay on the bed.

Rewn came over to the doctor. “His water has ruptured.”

“Good. That means things are progressing.”

“It’s bad. Our young stay in their birthing sacks until they are six Turitan months. The babies are in danger of dying,” Rewn whispered.

“They’re part human and part Turitan,” Elian said.

“Let me see what I can do. What sort of things do you have in case surgery is needed?”

“Everything is here,” Elian said, showing him an opening in the wall.

The doctor came in close to Xand, smoothing his hand over his abdomen. “I’m Dr. Brandon Yale. I’m going to help you get through this. Do you have the urge to push?”

“Yes, but I’m afraid the babies aren’t ready,” Xand said.
